The Smart Pendant also features automatic fall detection, enabling immediate contact with our 24/7 Emergency Response Center whenever a potential fall is identified. If desired, TruSense will also send out an automated text message or phone call to family members. TruSense GPS Page

The TruSense app provides the ability to track your loved one outside of the home while wearing the GPS Smart Pendant. Know when they leave the home and where they go. If they happen to fall while they are out of the home, our 24/7 response center will respond to your loved one to ensure they are OK. If they need help they can dispatch EMS. You can define safety zones around your loved one’s home, ensuring you are notified in the event they exceed a safe distance. This works well for those suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia that have a tendency to wander.

          TruSense Pendant Capabilities Page

The TruSense GPS Smart Pendant is the only pendant available today that alerts caregivers if their loved one has left the home without their alert pendant. The US National Library of Medicine states that for seniors that own pendants, 86% claimed they did not wear it throughout the entire day. This a critical feature that will help to remind aging loved ones to wear their pendants as they sometimes simply forget to put them on. TruSense Home is required in order to access this feature.

The TruSense GPS Smart Pendant is the first pendant to offer caregivers the ability to have more insight into the performance of their loved one’s alert pendant. With the TruSense app, users can check the battery level in real time, or see if the pendant is currently being charged. Caregivers can now be more proactive about reminding their loved ones to charge their pendants. Signal strength and current location of the pendant is also included.

        Frequently Asked Questions

        a

        Using the GPS Smart Pendant

        a

What is the effective range of the GPS Smart Pendant? Does it work from everywhere, or just within a few blocks from the home like other pendants?

Many emergency pendants available today are a lot like a cordless phone with a panic button – they use the land-line to make a call to emergency services, so they won’t work if you’re too far away from the home. The GPS Smart Pendant, however, is more like a combination cell phone/speaker phone/GPS device, in that it can make a phone call from anywhere there is cellular coverage, and it transmits coordinates every few minutes. The GPS Smart Pendant also has a fall detection feature. The GPS pendant uses the AT&T cellular network so it has tremendous coverage and works nationwide wherever cellular coverage is available.

        a

How do you wear the GPS Smart Pendant?

The GPS Smart Pendant comes with a lanyard to be worn around their neck, and can also be worn with a wrist strap accessory. It is also small enough that it can be easily carried in a pocket or purse.

        a

Is the GPS Smart Pendant’s SOS button the only thing that triggers an emergency alarm?

The SOS button can be used, but the pendant also has a fall detection feature that automatically activates the device. In the event of a false alarm, simply push the SOS button to cancel it.

        a

If my loved one is wearing the GPS Smart Pendant, can I see where they are on a map from the TruSense dashboard?

Yes! The dashboard map will tell you if the pendant is at home, or if your loved one has taken it on a trip. You can click into the details of the trip and view a breadcrumb trail leading from the home to their last known location. The pendant is configured to report its location, the speed and direction it’s moving in, and approximate address every 3 minutes, so you get a good idea of where your loved one is and where they’ve been recently. If a fall is detected, or if the SOS button is pressed, the pendant immediately transmits the location, speed, and other data to our 24/7 Emergency Response Center. Then, a two-way voice call is started over the built-in speaker.

        a

Are the GPS Smart Pendant communication features only used to contact 24/7 emergency response, or can the pendant be used to make other calls as well?

It is designed as an emergency only device. The cellular data provided for the service is restricted to emergency situations only.

        a

Approximately how long do the GPS Smart Pendant batteries last? Are they rechargeable?

The GPS Smart Pendant uses a rechargeable, non-removable lithium ion battery that will operate for 1-3 days, depending on how active the wearer is. The pendant “goes to sleep” to conserve energy when stationary, and “wakes up” when moved. The device is water resistant and can be worn in the shower, but it is recommended that it not be submerged for long amounts of time (swimming, bathing, etc.)

        a

Does the Emergency Response Center work 24/7? And when the alarm is triggered, do they actually engage local emergency services, or do they just start calling down the list of emergency contacts?

The Emergency Response Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays. The center is comprised of three separate physical sites distributed throughout the country, all of which are staffed by individuals who are highly trained to answer distress calls. They have special tools to interface with local EMS, fire, police, etc.

When the SOS button is pushed or a fall is detected, the pendant establishes a call with the Emergency Response Center first. If for some reason they are not able to connect or communicate with your loved one, they will call the emergency contacts (most likely you or another designated caregiver.) You may also choose to have the Emergency Response Center automatically dispatch EMS if they cannot reach your loved one or any of the emergency contacts.

        a

How can I identify an incoming call from the 24/7 Emergency Response Center?

The incoming call will come from an 800 number, and the Caller ID will read “CENTRAL STATION.” Per industry standard security protocol, the precise location of the specific monitoring center that reaches out to you is not disclosed.

        a

What is the price of the GPS Smart Pendant and GPS subscription?

The GPS Smart Pendant device itself costs $129, and the GPS subscription service pricing is as follows:

        One month – $24.99
        Three months – $22.49/month
        Six months – $19.99/month
        Twelve months – $17.49/month

        a

Does the GPS Smart Pendant still work if the Internet connection at the home is down, or if it is not paired with the TruSense Hub?

Yes! Much like a smartphone, the GPS Smart Pendant operates through cellular and GPS signals, and thus works completely independently of the TruSense Hub and home Internet connection. This adds an extra layer of protection to your TruSense system.

        a

Can I share access to TruSense insights with other people?

Yes, you determine who will have access to the TruSense dashboard and alerts.

        a

How do I change my alerts?

Simply log in on the main menu of TruSense at https://app.mytrusense.com/login and modify the rule you want to change (e.g. thresholds, phone number, etc.)
